There's still no standard test to detect pancreatic cancer early. Scientists are working to change that

To detect pancreatic cancer at an early stage, researchers are exploring the potential of blood-based liquid biopsy tests. Currently, there is no standard test to identify early cases of pancreatic cancer, which is the third leading cause of cancer deaths in the United States. Although many studies are still in the early phases, some show promising results. One study presented the development of a liquid biopsy test that detected 97% of stage I and II pancreatic cancers in volunteers. The researchers collected blood samples and tested for specific markers associated with pancreatic cancer. However, more research is needed before a screening test for early pancreatic cancer can be established. Detecting pancreatic cancer early is crucial for increasing the chances of successful surgical intervention.
